Jeff Bresnahan, M.B.A., F.A.I.C.D.
With over 33 years’ experience in the superannuation industry, Jeff has seen enormous change during this time. After more than 15 years working for and ultimately managing a number of superannuation administration and consulting firms, he co-founded The Australian Superannuation Group (TASG) in 1995. The firm rapidly grew to become the fifth largest independent consulting/administration house in Australia. He sold the business in April 2000.
Since founding SuperRatings in 2002, the company has quickly become recognised as a leading source of advice within the industry. Over the last 20 years, Jeff has worked with Government Departments and industry including Department of Finance, APRA, Deloittes, Sonic Health Care, Aussie Home Loans, and more than 80% of the top 50 superannuation funds in Australia.
Jeff is regularly sought out and quoted by the following media outlets including National Nine News; Today on Nine; Seven News; Sunrise on Seven; Ten News; ABC News; Sky Business News; Bloomberg; CNBC; Australian Financial Review; ABC Radio; 2UE; 2GB; 3AW; and most major newspaper, industry and online publications.
Jeff holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also regularly asked to address the Trustee Boards of many of Australia’s largest superannuation funds.
Adam Gee B.Sc (Psych), G.Dip.App.Fin
Chief Executive Officer
Adam has over 18 years’ experience in the superannuation industry. Adam joined SuperRatings as the Head of Consulting in July 2013 and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer on 1 July 2014. Prior to joining SuperRatings, Adam was a Director of KPMG, where he worked for 11 years and before this was employed at Colonial First State and AMP.
In previous roles, Adam was involved in delivering a range of consultancy services to superannuation funds (not-for-profit funds, retail funds, corporate funds and SMSFs), administrators, custodians, insurers and employers. Adam has managed a variety of consulting projects including a range of administration, insurance, custodian, asset consultant and Master Trust tenders. Adam has also provided strategic advice to funds on MySuper, APRA Prudential Standards and numerous regulatory changes. He has also conducted numerous risk management projects and has assisted funds with the interpretation of complex superannuation legislation.
Adam has a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology, from the University of New South Wales and holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment. Adam is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and is a member of the ASFA Fund Operations Standing Advisory Panel.
National Distribution Manager
Responsible for a number of areas including client relationship management, sales and training, Alfons is a registered tax agent who commenced his professional life with chartered accountancy practices before migrating to private industry with Aon Consulting, Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Channel Nine.
His experience in financial management, business development and consultancy is invaluable to us and our clients.
Phillip’s role covers a number of areas including relationship management, sales and SMART training. Joining the company in September 2007, Phillip brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked at AMP, Zurich, Credit Suisse and overseas.
Phillip holds an Associate of ASFA accreditation (AASFA) along with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Macquarie University.
Wendy Tse B.Econ, M.Comm, PRINCE2 Practitioner
Executive Manager, Consulting
Wendy joined SuperRatings in May 2014 and has over 13 years’ experience in the superannuation/ wealth management advisory space.
Prior to joining SuperRatings, Wendy was an Associate Director of KPMG where she provided day to day oversight of the consultancy services provided to a range of defined benefit and defined contribution corporate, retail and industry funds. Wendy has led a large number of consulting engagements including product development, benchmarking exercises, risk management and compliance, technical advice, strategy development, outsourced service provider tenders and managed Policy Committee meetings. Prior to that, Wendy held numerous positions with a number of global professional services firms.
Wendy has a Bachelor of Economics, majoring in Economics and Marketing and a Master of Commerce, Accounting with Commercial Law, both from the University of Sydney. Wendy is a recognised PRINCE2 Practitioner, representative on a number of ASFA discussion committees and is a member of the ASFA Standing Advisory Panel. In addition, Wendy is also a NSW Committee Member at Women in Super.
Leo joined SuperRatings in November 2010. Prior to this, he spent a number of years as an investment analyst and advisor at a national SMSF advisory firm, providing portfolio construction and asset allocation advice to the firm’s clients.
Leo holds Bachelor of Arts and Commerce degrees from the University of Sydney, and is currently undertaking a Masters of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University. He is also a candidate for the Level III CFA exam.
Kirby Rappell, CFA
Responsible for the management of the SuperRatings Research team and data. Kirby has been with SuperRatings since 2008 and spent the first three years as a Quantitative Analyst before becoming Research Manager in 2011.
Kirby is responsible for setting and overseeing the research program and developing the Analyst and Administrator team. Key tasks include the delivery of the Monthly Performance Survey, Benchmark Reporting, Asset Allocation Analysis, Fund Operating Statistics and Analysis of Fund Documents.
Kirby has driven the refinement of our Ratings model and processes, most recently including the 2013 Ratings process which encompassed more than 480 products. Kirby is heavily involved in writing and managing consultation projects, particularly in relation to product design and development, including research into MySuper products.
Kirby has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney (Finance and Accounting) and is a CFA Charterholder.
Hilde joined SuperRatings in February 2012 having previously worked as an Investment Advisor and an Investment Analyst at one of Australia’s leading independently owned financial advisory firms, providing investment and portfolio construction advice to clients.
Hilde holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Masters of International Business and a Masters of International Relations from Macquarie University.
Kate has been with SuperRatings since November 2012, having previously worked as an Investment Analyst, Institutional Client Relations Manager and performing quantitative analysis for top Australasian financial firms. In addition to institutional portfolio construction and management, Kate engaged in industry and competitor analysis, process improvement and building and development of quantitative models.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration and a Masters of Applied Finance degrees from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Michael joined SuperRatings in May 2013 after previously working in the Equity Operations division for one of Australia’s leading financial brokers and mid-cap research houses. Michael gained international experience in the Fund Operations division of a leading Scandinavian institutional bank as well as quantitative investment analyst experience by running portfolio optimisation for a boutique Swedish small-cap fund manager.
Michael holds Bachelor Degrees in Mathematics and Economics and a Masters of Finance from Stockholm University.
Quantitative and Sustainability Analyst
Wil joined the team in August 2010 as a Research Administrator. With formal qualifications in Financial Planning and Economics, his interest in analysis techniques grew.
Wil also holds strong beliefs in responsible investing which secured his role as SuperRatings’ Quantitative and Sustainability Analyst in June 2011. He is responsible for the development of our Annual Fund Sustainability Review and is now completing the final stages of his Bachelors’ Degree in IT through RMIT.
Vishnu joined Superratings in March 2014 having previously worked as a Research Analyst at a well-known research house and gaining experience in Superannuation Research and Ratings. Vishnu has a Bachelor in Engineering coupled with a Master’s degree in Applied Finance. Vishnu also holds a Diploma in Financial planning.
